Open Safety App UK before you head out. See flagged risk areas around you, get a safer route to your destination — and if there is no genuinely safe way through, choose between the fastest route and the one passing the fewest flagged areas. In the background, the app watches for high-risk areas as you walk.
Help starts the moment it is needed
If you walk into a high-risk area, SOS mode starts by itself — no route needed, nothing to press. You can also shake your phone or press the button if you see something yourself. Your circle is alerted instantly with your location and a live video feed, and evidence is safely recorded in case you need it later.

A personal safety app for the UK
Safety App UK is a personal safety app for walking in England, Wales and Northern Ireland. It shows recorded crime from the official police data at data.police.uk on a live map, suggests a safer walking route, and alerts your trusted circle with your live location and video if an SOS starts.
It is not an emergency service: it does not call 999, the police, an ambulance or the fire service for you. If you are in immediate danger, call 999. The app is Android first, with an iPhone version planned. Scotland is not on the map, because street-level police data for Scotland is not published on data.police.uk.
How does the SOS work?
There are three ways to start an SOS. Auto-SOS starts it for you if you walk into an area the map flags as high-risk. You can also shake the phone, which works with the screen off, or press the SOS button. You can cancel anything the app starts, and there is no voice trigger or safe word.
When SOS mode starts, your trusted circle receives a push notification, a live map of your location as it moves and a live video stream from your phone. They need nothing installed to see it. Nothing is recorded before SOS mode starts; once it does, recordings are encrypted and stored so they survive whatever happens to your phone, and you decide what happens to them afterwards. Two or three people who will actually answer are better than a long list.
How do the crime map and safer walking routes work?
The map shows crime the police publish each month at data.police.uk, plus community reports that have been verified. Police data is monthly, so it lags real life by a few weeks: on 12 October 2026 the latest month available was August 2026. Safety App UK shows this police data on a live map, plans safer walking routes and sends SOS to your trusted circle.
A normal maps app picks the quickest way. The safer route also weighs the recorded crime along each option. If there is no genuinely safe way through, the app says so and lets you choose between the fastest route and the one that passes the fewest flagged areas. Does Safety App UK record me all the time?
No. Nothing is recorded until SOS mode starts — Safety App UK never listens or records in the background, and there is no voice trigger or safe word.
Can I use Safety App UK outside the UK?
Right now Safety App UK covers the UK. We’re working on expanding — join our list to be notified.
Is it free?
The SOS button and the Trusted Circle alert are free. Premium (Auto-SOS, the full map, safer routes, live video, alerts and messages) has a 7-day free trial for accounts that have not used one before. After that it’s £2.99 a month or £29.99 a year (2 months free), cancel any time in Google Play.
Does Safety App UK call 999 for me?
No. Safety App UK is not an emergency service and does not contact the police, ambulance or fire service. It alerts your trusted circle with your live location and video, so they can act, including calling 999 themselves. If you are in immediate danger, call 999 yourself.
Do my trusted contacts need the app?
No. They receive your alert and a link to your live location on any phone, with nothing to install.
Does the crime map work in Scotland?
Not yet. The map covers England, Wales and Northern Ireland, where the police publish street-level crime at data.police.uk. Scotland does not publish that data there.
Is Safety App UK on iPhone?
Safety App UK is Android first, on Google Play. An iPhone version is planned.
