Privacy isn’t a feature we bolted on. It’s how we built this.
What we record — and what we don’t
We only record when you tell us to. There’s no background listening, no silent tracking, and no recording “just in case.” Every recording starts from a clear trigger — your voice, a gesture, or the SOS button — and you can delete it at any moment before it’s saved.
How we mark areas as “risky”
Every location on our map is flagged because of a specific, reported incident — never because of who lives or spends time there. We do not and will not allow areas to be marked based on race, nationality, immigration status, or any other characteristic of the people present. Reports describe actions — theft, harassment, assault — not people.
Your data, your control
• Recordings are encrypted and deleted automatically if you cancel an alert
• You choose who’s in your trusted circle — no one sees your location without your explicit setup
• You can mute any area for yourself without affecting what others see
• You can request full deletion of your data at any time
A note on emergency recording
In a genuine emergency, UK and EU law allows recording to protect someone’s safety (a “vital interest” basis under GDPR). We built Safety App UK around this principle carefully — recording only activates around a real, immediate trigger, never automatically just because you’ve entered a particular area.
